Stowe Elementary hosts Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Show
DULUTH, Minn — Students at Stowe Elementary took part in the annual Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Show Friday morning.
Kindergarten through 5th-grade students had the chance to bring their fruit, flower, and vegetable creations for a chance at impressing the judges.
5th grader at Stowe Elementary, Ruby, entered Gloria the potato person and her Beet dog, “Beet”hoven in this year’s competition.
“We always do mushrooms every year for the fruit, flower, and vegetable show, so we thought to keep the tradition going by making a garden of mushrooms for her,” said Ruby, showing off her garden of mushrooms.
Stowe Elementary has hosted the time-honored event for close to 40 years.
“This is an event that Stowe has hosted. I can tell you since at least 1983, because that’s when my son was here as a kindergartner, and he stayed here with my daughter, who also went through to 1989, so we’re talking 40 plus years of a celebration of fall Harvest,” said Jill Lofald, Duluth School Board member and retired teacher.
The entries are judged by a board of school board members and PTA members, with the goal of giving everyone recognition for their work.
