Georgia Teen Wanted For Homicide, Kidnapping Arrested In Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. – A 16-year-old boy wanted in the state of Georgia for homicide, armed robbery and kidnapping, among other charges, was arrested by Duluth police Monday while officers were responding to a “possible burglary in progress,” according to a news release Tuesday.
The possibly burglary call came in around 2:40 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of East 4th Street.
Around a half-dozen officers responded and established a perimeter before a foot pursuit was initiated with the suspect.
The boy was eventually caught and arrested without incident, according to police, who said the boy was giving false names to officers.
When investigators looked further into the suspect’s background, they learned the teen “had a warrant out for his arrest for homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of a firearm, aggravated assault, hijacking of a motor vehicle, and theft,” according to a news release.
The teen was brought to Arrowhead Juvenile Center for holding until he’s extradited back to Georgia.
Mattie Hjelseth, the police department’s public information officer, would not confirm with FOX 21 whether an actual burglary occurred.
“This incident shows the tremendous thorough work of all our staff coordinating together to identify a fugitive and to ensure the safety of our community,” according to Hjelseth in a news release.
