UWS Volleyball Opens up Conference Play with Rematch of UMAC Championship Game

First set between Northwestern and UWS is on Friday, September 26th, at 7 p.m.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- The UWS volleyball team wrapped up their annual Stinger Classic tournament over the weekend.

Now the Yellowjackets open up UMAC conference play.

On Friday the 10-and-6 Yellowjackets hit the road to take on Northwestern in their first conference game of the year.

A season ago, the Eagles and the Yellowjackets met in the UMAC championship game.

Where Northwestern took the crown 3-0 over UWS.

In the early part of the season, the Yellowjackets are still working on filling a few key positions, after losing four starters from last season.

Including their All-Star libero Jenna Anderson.

“We have been working hard on just kind of pulling our team together in chemistry and figuring out where we are with our group and things like that. We did lose four starters from last year’s team, so still trying to figuring out that team chemistry and things like that. But we are coming together and playing really hard and competing. So, I think that’s pulling us to the next level,” said UWS head coach Lynne Deadrick. “We did lose our starting Libero last year in Jenna Anderson who was a four-year starter All-American, so we’re still trying to figure out who’s going to take over that roll and take over that jersey. ”
