Breezy Point 5K Earns $148,000 for Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge
DULUTH, Minn.– The Breezy Point 5k has been an Island Lake tradition now for nearly two decades.
And this year, they hit the finish line with quite the donation.
The Breezy Point 5k got its start seventeen years ago in the organizer’s backyard, with only 75 runners.
But now, this year over 500 runners helped contribute to Minnesota teen challenge.
An impressive $148,658 will go towards their programs, to ensure recovery for drugs and alcohol.
The organizer saying, he’s already received positive feedback from people he’s helped.
“It’s just incredible to have everyone there. The other thing is, this year was really special because I had a couple of the Teen Challenge clients come up to me after the race and tell me that this program saved their life,” said Stevie Paulson, the race organizer.
The goal for the most recent race was only $2,600.
And for next year, they’re looking forward to having the race on Saturday, July 4th.
