St. Louis River Alliance Holds “Riverfront Memories” Event
DULUTH, Minn. — The St. Louis Riverfront Alliance held a community event at Chambers Grove Park on Wednesday.
The “Riverfront Memories” event aimed to connect community members to the St. Louis River. There were opportunities for people to share personal reflections about what the river means to them.
The event also had various activities including a river walk, geocaching and free photography sessions.
The St. Louis River Alliance focuses on preserving the waterway and getting people out on the river for events.
“We just want to know why this is important to people. And then from that feedback, we work with a lot of partners to lead restoration, and that’ll really help us decide what events to host, what projects need to happen on the river, and just taking in communities input so that they have a voice in the decision making,” Alyssa Johnson, St. Louis River Alliance Program Manager said.
Future events include a storytelling session out on Wisconsin Point on October 7. The event will feature speakers and partners to discuss ongoing restoration work and community involvement.
