Superior man charged with seven counts of child porn after social media tips
SUPERIOR, Wis. – The uploading of possible child pornography to social media led to the arrest of a Superior man.
Superior Police Department investigative documents show three “CyberTips” were sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Kik messaging service detected two files that may contain child pornography.
They were able to connect the files to an IP address where Brayden Bunt, 23, Superior lived.
They were also able to connect possible child pornography to an e-mail address associated the IP address.
The social media platform X, formerly know as Twitter, also detected possible child pornography tied to the same e-mail address.
Following these tips, the Superior Police Departments was able to get a search warrant where, “177 images and 167 videos that appear to depict child pornography” were discovered on Bunt’s cell phone.
Police also discovered the e-mails associated with the CyberTips on Bunt’s phone.
The Superior Police report says the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, “identified victims within 9 images and 23 video files in this case. These were all located on the defendant’s phone.”
Bunt is now facing 7 Felony Possession of Child Pornography charges.
He is slated for a Preliminary hearing on the case in early October.
