Community Members Advocating for Civic Pledge for Stronger Minnesota
DULUTH, Minn.– Following what politicians are calling a rise in political violence, community members and city officials were invited today to sign a pledge to prevent this.
The Civic Pledge for a Stronger Minnesota is dedicated to promoting civility and dialogue, over division and violence.
The event is part of the ‘What Can We Do’ coalition. Which was inspired after the recent murder of Representative Melissa Hortman.
The gathering brought awareness for community involvement to help make a stance about this issue.
“These tragedies stunned the state and the nation and underscored the urgent need to reject political violence and restore a culture of dialog. And ‘What We Can Do Weeks’ initiative was Minnesota’s answer, a movement to honor those lost and wounded by choosing community over conflict, dialog over division, and courage over cowardice,” said Shannon Watson, Executive Director ‘Majority in the Middle’.
There’s also an opportunity to sign this pledge electronically as well.
