Northern Star: Jevon Williams
Williams leads the Saints with 503 rushing yards this season.
DULUTH, Minn.-St. Scholastica sophomore running back Jevon Williams is having quite the 2025 breakout campaign.
In just three games this season, he’s already surpassed his rushing yards total from a year ago by 201 yards.
“Just this whole off-season I’ve been really putting my focus towards just being a bigger part of this program, like really showing out for the guys,” said Williams.
Maximum effort and determination while running the ball as well as catching the ball too.
“I mean we had a 3rd and 19 against Augsburg and we dropped it down to him on a check down and he ran for 21 and got us a first down on 3rd down. So, certainly adds that element and makes it another thing that defenses have to account for,” said head coach Matt Bremer.
Williams may be one of the fastest guys on the field but in his head he’s slowing down what he sees.
“You’re just kind of in this flow state of mind. Where you’re not really thinking where the hole is going to open up, you just kind of sense it. Just going right through it and then you can make a play off of there. It’s just love of the game,” added Williams.
A game that features a lot of tackling, however it’s minamally done on the Willmar native.
“Jevon’s done a phenomenal job of just making guys miss in the open field. That’s a huge piece. Because as coaches, you can’t scheme that up. There’s no amount of scheme that it’s me versus you and you have to win and Jevon’s done that for the most part early on here in this season,” added Bremer.
All done in hopes to build for the future.
“I’m excited for what’s to come. Like this program has been through a lot and now it’s growing a lot and it’s great to see,” said Williams.
Williams and St. Scholastica are next in action on Saturday at Concordia College.
