“Duluth Public Schools has been made aware of reports that racial slurs were directed at Denfeld High School football players by Duluth East players during a recent game between the two schools. District administration has opened an investigation into the incident and is working to gather the facts thoroughly and fairly.

This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Duluth Public Schools. Duluth Public Schools is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. Racial harassment and discrimination have no place in our classrooms, athletic programs, or community spaces.

In alignment with our district’s commitment to equity, the administration and athletic departments at both schools will work together to reinforce expectations of sportsmanship, mutual respect, and inclusion.

As the investigation continues, Duluth Public Schools will not share additional details to protect the integrity of the process and the privacy of the students involved. We ask for the community’s patience and trust as we address this matter in accordance with our policies and values.”
