Crosby Fire grows to 300 acres, 70 % Contained
TOFTE, Minn.– This morning, a press release highlighted current stats for the Crosby Fire that happened last week.
The fire is now at 300 acres and 70 % of it is contained.
The reported stated that last night’s precipitation helped reduce the fire.
Minnesota Incident Command System NICS, deemed lightning as the cause of the fire.
Minnesota DNR firefighters will be improving and checking the containment line and mopping up hot spots with assistance from three Conservation Corps of Minnesota Iowa (CCMI) crews today.
A portion of the Superior Hiking Trail within the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park remains temporarily closed due to the Crosby Fire.
The trail is closed between Caribou Falls State Wayside Rest along Minnesota State Highway 61 to the County Road 7 (Cramer Road) access points. The state park remains open.
The MNICS also mentioned that drone use is prohibited around the area. If drones are detected, all use of firefighting aircraft will stop.
