Minnesota Twins host free girls baseball clinic
HERMANTOWN, Minn. — The Minnesota Twins teamed up with the Minnesota Girls Baseball Association to host a free girls’ baseball clinic at Fichtner Field in Hermantown.
As part of the Twins community fund, around sixty clinics are held each summer, offering young athletes a chance to try baseball in a fun and exciting way. The coaches and Twins staff ran the girls through a variety of stations, including hitting, infield, and outfield for two hours, gave out some Twins gear, and ended the evening with pizza.
“When I was a young girl, I played baseball, and I was the only girl that I ever saw throughout over a decade of playing baseball as a child, and now it’s becoming more and more common,” said Chelsey Falzone, manager of youth engagement for the Minnesota Twins. “It’s our desire to send the message that girls belong in baseball.”
The Twins youth leaders encourage girls to play the sport that they want to play, whether that is baseball or softball.
