Man that escaped from NERCC has initial appearance in court

GRAND RAPIDS, Min. – Michael Todd Hart made his initial appearance in Itasca County Court on charges after his alleged escaped from Northeast Regional Corrections Center.

His initial appearance was on October 22, 2025.

He is still remanded in custody.

All the charges he’s facing in Itasca County are from his actions following the alleged escape.

In Itasca County, he’s facing 2 counts of felony 4th degree assault on a peace officer, plus felony 5th degree drug possession and gross misdemeanor obstruction of a legal process with force  / violence or threat.
