Superior Nightmare 5K Creeps Back Into Town

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Lace up your running shoes and put on your costumes because the Superior Nightmare 5K is creeping back into town.

This spooky run, taking place at 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Wessman Arena, combines Halloween fun with a good cause, supporting the Grandma’s Marathon Young Athletes Foundation. Organizers expect to raise between 5 and 7 thousand dollars this year to help fund youth athletic programs across the region.

“So all the money we raise, minus the expenses of the race, go back to our foundation, which then go back to the community through a series of grants, through scholarships, running shoe program, kids events that we have throughout the year that are free. So every dollar that we raise is for a good cause, and everybody who shows up at the start line tomorrow is part of that,” said Grandma’s Marathon Marketing and PR Director, Zach Schneider.

There’s still time to join the frightful fun. Online registration will remain open on their website until 9 a.m. Oct. 25, followed by in-person signups at Wessman Arena in Superior, until 10:30 a.m. or until all spots are filled.
