Veterans Resilience Project hosts Second Annual Sweat 4 Vets event
DULUTH, Minn. — Over the weekend, people gathered to help veterans by sweating.
This weekend, the Veterans Resilience Project hosted its 2nd annual Sweat 4 Vets event at Endion Station, inviting the public to come and experience the rejuvenating benefits of sauna therapy.
People took to the sauna for a sweat session, then followed it up with a refreshing cold plunge.
Proceeds from the event helped support free mental health services for veterans.
“Taking care of our military community is such a trickle effect. It’s taking care of their families. It’s allowing them to be effective in their civilian careers. And so the trickle effect of that is not just short-term, but long-term. We’re seeing long-term impacts of EMDR therapy being really effective. It’s usually a treatment that, once you do it, you don’t have to repeat. You actually feel a lot better,” said Veterans Resilience Project Executive Director, Jonna Phillips.
The event concluded with an after-party at Warrior Brewing Co., featuring food trucks and a silent auction.
