Veterans Resilience Project Hosts Second Annual Sweat 4 Vets Event

DULUTH, Minn. — You can help veterans by sweating.

People took to the sauna for a sweat session, then followed it up with a refreshing cold plunge. On the weekend of Oct. 25, the Veterans Resilience Project hosted its 2nd annual Sweat 4 Vets event at Endion Station, inviting the public to come and experience the rejuvenating benefits of sauna therapy. Proceeds from the event help support free mental health services for veterans.

“Taking care of our military community is such a trickle effect. It’s taking care of their families. It’s allowing them to be effective in their civilian careers. And so the trickle effect of that is not just short-term, but long-term. We’re seeing long-term impacts of EMDR therapy being really effective. It’s usually a treatment that, once you do it, you don’t have to repeat. You actually feel a lot better,” said Veterans Resilience Project Executive Director Jonna Phillips.

The event concluded with an after-party at Warrior Brewing Co., featuring food trucks and a silent auction. To learn more about the project, visit their website linked here.
