DULUTH, Minn.– With SNAP benefits on pause, Duluth’s Best Bread has quickly stepped up to the plate.

Starting on Tuesday November 4th, the bakery will be distributing free pastries and day-old bread to support children in need.

No IDs are necessary, but children 12 and under must be present for this program.

This opportunity is for dine-in guests only, and all that is needed is mentioning “DBB Kids Special” at the counter.

The idea was inspired by similar efforts being done around the country.

As for the products, it’ll vary with whatever they have in stock.

Though no gluten free pastries will be available, the co-owner says, he’s proud to be doing their part to help out the community.

“I mean, I know we’re a little bit bougie but like to be able to invite people in and say, Look, you get to smile too. You get a croissant too. Like you’re worthy, you matter. Like, I think that’s important, that every child hears that,” said Robert Lillegard, Co-owner Duluth’s Best Bread.

Duluth’s Best Bread staff told FOX 21 they will continue to offer this special for the duration of the SNAP pause.
