Coffee Conversation: Time Arc Theatre Launches Season with “When Storms Come Calling”

SUPERIOR, WI. — Time Arc Theatre is opening its new season with When Storms Come Calling — a powerful blend of music and storytelling honoring the history and mystery of the Great Lakes.

Written by Kathleen Laakso and composed by Bruce Nelson, the play explores 300 years of Great Lakes shipwrecks, from the Griffin in 1679 to the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975.

Laakso, a member of the Friends of the Fitz, helped raise funds for a Wisconsin Historical Society marker at the Fitzgerald’s last port of call in Superior. She and Nelson, classmates from South Shore High School’s class of 1973, reunited decades later to merge their love of theatre and music.

The production runs October 24–November 2 in the third-floor Ballroom of the Old Post Office on Tower Avenue, supported by a Superior Public Arts Grant.
