Ice Raid

HIBBING, Minn.  — A Mexican restaurant in Hibbing was raided by Federal agents on Wednesday.

A FOX 21 photographer, who stopped for lunch at El Charro Mexican Bar and Grill after covering a ground breaking in Hibbing, witnessed multiple Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) agents and Border Patrol conducting the raid at the restaurant.

According to ICE’s website, EROs “Manage all aspects of the immigration enforcement process, including the identification, arrest, detention, and removal of aliens who are subject to removal or are unlawfully present in the U.S.”

At least two employees of the restaurant were seen being taken into custody.

Our photographer was questioned on his nationality by agents while recording the incident.

According to officials, Hibbing police assisted the Lake Superior Drug Task Force with executing a warrant in Hibbing, but it was not immediately clear if it was related to the raid.

FOX 21 has reached out to ICE and Border Patrol for comment.
