Victim ID’d, Suspect Arrested in Hibbing Homicide
UPDATE 5:30 p.m. – Hibbing police have identified the man who was shot and killed early Sunday in the parking lot of Meadowview Apartments.
He is Parker Charles Johnson, 24, of Hibbing.
Johnson’s 24th birthday was Nov. 1, meaning he celebrated his birthday just hours before he was killed.
Police also announced the arrest of a man in the homicide investigation around 12:30 p.m., and they said he was “cooperating with the investigation.”
While the name of the suspect was not released Sunday, the department said he was lodged in the St. Louis County Jail pending possible charges from the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office.
A motive was not immediately released, but Hibbing police said there was no threat to the public.
HIBBING, Minn. — One person is dead after an early morning shooting in Hibbing Sunday.
The call for help came in around 2:15 a.m. for the sounds of gunshots in the parking lot of the Meadowview Apartments at 3535 9th Avenue West.
When officers arrived, they found a male with gunshots wounds to his chest, according to Hibbing police.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to assist in the homicide investigation.
As for 9:20 a.m., investigators were attempting to identify a suspect.
“We believe this is an isolated incident and the public is not in danger,” according to a news release.
