DULUTH, Minn.- UMD Goalie Sophia Villanueva earned WCHA Rookie of the Week on Monday.

The El Paso native made her starting debut over the weekend, earning back-to-back wins.

Villanueva is the second goalie in program history to win back-to-back debut starts.

This is her first-ever WCHA weekly award.

UMD will continue their road trip this weekend, taking on St. Thomas.

Game one is on Friday at 5 p.m.
