UMD Students Make Voices Heard at Polls
DULUTH, Minn. — College students took to the polls to cast their ballots for the city and school board elections.
Students have been gearing up for this election, attending UMD forums on campus. Each forum featured city council representatives and some at-large candidates to help students prepare to vote. The candidates spoke to students regarding things that affect them.
“They are interested in things like the cost of rent,” said Cindy Rugeley, associate professor of political science at UMD. “They talk a lot about job opportunities when they graduate, some of them like to stay in Duluth for them, you know, are there going to be jobs here.”
Students with a local address can find their district on our website and register to vote today up until 8 p.m.
