UW-Superior hosts “I Heart Education Day” for future educators
SUPERIOR, Wis. — UW-Superior held a first time event on Wednesday, introducing young students to the education field.
The “I Heart Education Day” was an event for high students who want to be future teachers.
The event featured interactive workshops led by Yellowjacket faculty and students.
The goal was to expose students to various career options in education.
Students also get to experience the life of being a college student for a day, with a tour of campus and interacting with other students.
“I think they have questions. They have questions about, what does that look like? How would this career work for me? And so we try and, you know, create an environment that students are comfortable asking those questions, and having our students do that panel is just something that we find really valuable,” Nicky Wilson, Camps and Clinics Manager at UWS said.
The various workshops showcased teaching and learning methods that students could use in their future careers.
“I think it’s really cool, because you can learn so many things that you never knew before from especially people that are experienced in the fields, and especially like getting to talk to the people that are in the elementary majors, you can learn, like real life, on how it actually is,” High School student Breanna Myer said.
For students who are still exploring their options, or are unsure, the education day allowed them to get a glimpse into what the future could hold.
