Minnesota Senators tour UMD science labs to discuss federal impacts
DULUTH, Minn.– Minnesota senators toured UMD’s science labs to talk about potential cuts to grants and budgets.
The legislators met with researchers to better understand how UMD science students impact research in the area.
Professors told FOX 21 University Minnesota Duluth is filled with financial uncertainty under the Trump Administration.
The tour itself was able to give senators an eye-opening experience for the situation.
“Across the state, we’ve seen a lot of research canceled especially if it had something to do with women, or with LGBTQ community. So, we’re particular that there might be areas targeted. the research is really necessary,” said Senator Lindsey Port, District 55 (DFL).
The visit also gave lawmakers a chance to talk with students, to learn more about the impact UMD has had on them.
