Hibbing Speedway promotor arrested on felony fraud charges

LAKE COUNTY, Minn. — The promoter of the Hibbing Speedway has been arrested on felony charges of fraud out of West Virginia.

Barry Braun of Silver Bay and owner of XR events, is being held in Lake County on charges of felony fugitive from justice.

A warrant for Brauns’ arrest was sent out by the West Virginia State Police for one felony count of fraudulent scheme and one felony Count of obtaining money, property, and services by false pretenses.

According to court documents, Braun has a history of willfully obtaining services from companies through false representations and promises of payment with the intent to deprive them of money and services.

Braun is currently in the Lake County Jail, waiting for extradition to West Virginia.

XR Events was named the promoter of the Hibbing Speedway in December of last year.

We reached out to the Speedway for comment and have yet to hear back.
