Duluth Housing Strategies Conference held at DECC
DULUTH, Minn. — A Duluth Housing Strategies Conference was held at the DECC on Friday.
The event was the first of its kind in over a decade to be held in Duluth.
It aimed at building connections among developers, bankers and other stakeholders to support local housing projects
Throughout the day different listening sessions were held, each focusing on different aspects of housing development.
The conference comes at a critical time as Duluth faces a significant housing shortage.
“We know that housing is top of mind for anyone who lives here. We have a housing market that’s not working for the people who live in our community right now, and we know that people are animated and excited to find some solutions. So I think that’s why we have the turnout we have,” Tom Church, City of Duluth Senior Housing Developer said.
Some of the focuses during the conference were sites for new housing, financing and building balanced neighborhoods.
