Animal Allies honoring “Lovebug” through annual fundraiser

LovebugfundDULUTH, Minn.–Animal Allies in Duluth is making light out of what they called the worst case of neglect they’ve seen.

The story of Lovebug begins two years ago, when the shelter desperately tried to help, and save the neglected surrender.

The community quickly supported the dog and raised $14,000 in under 24 hours.

Unfortunately, Lovebug passed away the next morning, but every year, his legacy lives on.

This year, they raised $4,500 during the one-day fundraiser.

“We would absolutely not be here without the community. They are our biggest supporters. We are fully donation based, so continuing to see that over and over again. The public just shows up for us, and cares about what we’re doing. And kind of has a soft spot for Lovebug and wants to remember him. And to do something in his honor, it’s really nice to see,” said Nicole Facciotto, adoption manager Animal Allies.

In his honor, they’re collecting treats and cash to make current Animal Allie’s residents happy and healthy.
