Falling tree kills man snowplowing in Alden Township

ALDEN TOWNSHIP, Minn.  — A man has died after being crushed by a falling tree in Alden Township.

According to officials, at 10:22 a.m. on Wednesday,  they responded to a call on the 7400 block of Laine Road.

Brian Pelander, age 69, was found dead under a fallen tree by his wife.

The wife had left the home around 45 minutes prior to the accident when Pelander was snowblowing the property. 

Officials say that due to high winds and heavy wet snow, the tree gave way while he was snowblowing near it, killing him.

No foul play is suspected.
