Northern Star: Chloe Carlson
Carlson is the captain of the Proctor girls basketball team.
PROCTOR, Minn.- Proctor senior guard Chloe Carlson has already built up quite the impressive resume.
She’s the team captain.
A Division II commit.
And she’s already surpassed 1,000 career points.
“She’s a lead by example player. She’s not a fire and brimstone type kid. She does everything right. Get on board and follow me, I’ll take you there,” said head coach Matt Solberg.
Even with all she’s accomplished, she still feels there’s room to grow.
“Expanding my leadership role and making way for the younger kids to succeed. Finding open looks for them. Maybe if I’m getting like face guarded or something, just creating that gap for the other kids to hit shots and being able to get assists for their looks,” said Carlson.
But when she does have the ball in her hands.
“It makes you look like a much better coach than you probably are. Anytime the ball goes through the hoop, it makes you look really good,” added Solberg.
And that’s thanks to a excellent teacher.
“I feel like growing up I played in the yard with my sister. She was a lot older and bigger and stronger so I had to get off my shot fast,” said Carlson.
Soon she’ll be off to play for UMary but her focus is with the Rails now.
“Just leaving it all out there. Giving it everything that I have. Obviously we have a young group but the sky is the limit. They put so many hours in and just showing them that anything is possible,” said Carlson.
Carlson and the Rails are next in action at Duluth Denfeld on December 2nd.
