Man Rescued After Snowmobile Got Stuck Near Meadowlands

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Minn. – St. Louis County authorities are reminding riders to use caution, after a snowmobiler ended up stranded near Meadowlands.
On Thursday, November 27, deputies and rescue squad members responded to the report of a 55-year-old male who got stuck the day before when his snowmobile started to sink into a swamp. His location was about 5 miles northwest of Meadowlands.
Officials say the man took refuge in a remote cabin for the night, and told a friend he planned to walk out to the road in the morning. When he didn’t arrive on time, the friend called 911 to report the incident.
Rescuers found him about two miles from the trailhead. Aside from being wet and chilled, the man was in good shape.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office adds that “recent cold temperatures have not yet had time to adequately freeze swamps and other bodies of water allowing for safe travels.
