Shooting investigation underway in Fayal Township

FAYAL TOWNSHIP, Minn. — Eveleth police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital Tuesday.

The call for help came in around 3:45 p.m. in the 3500 block of River Drive in Fayal Township, which is about 10 miles southeast of Eveleth.

When police arrived, they set up a perimeter and found a male victim with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a trauma center at a Duluth hospital.

A male suspect was also arrested on scene, according Chief Jesse Linde.

Formal charges are pending against the suspect who was sent to the St. Louis County Jail.

A motive was not provided in a news release Tuesday night.
