Superior Middle School to remain online until Thursday
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Superior Middle School will continue at-home learning until Thursday, following Sunday’s officer-involved shooting.
A Superior Police Officer was shot multiple times Sunday during an early morning traffic stop, which ended with the suspect crashing their car into the school.

Officials say Tuesday and Wednesday will remain at home learning, with a plan for a full return to in-person learning on Thursday.
Students should follow their designated remote learning plans for these two days.
Superintendent Amy Starzecki says that even though the Superior Middle School was not the target, new safety measures in the school helped law enforcement.
A security film that was applied to the school’s glass slowed the suspect’s entrance into the building, and a new camera system provided law enforcement with real-time information to find the suspect.
On Thursday, officials say students will be greeted by a variety of support staff, including counselors and psychologists.
