Northern Star: Caitlin Kraemer
The Waterloo, Ontario native has an opportunity to don the red and white for Canada's National Team for the second time in her hockey career.
DULUTH, Minn- UMD Forward Caitlin Kraemer took the ice by storm in her freshman year with UMD.
Fast forward to her sophomore season, and she picked up right where she left off.
Knocking down 9 goals and tallying 6 assists for the Dogs.
“She’s just a pro in everything that she does, she gets to the rink early. That’s one player who is always dialed in right from the get-go. Every day she has that mentality of wanting to be better. She is a tremendous leader that way,” said UMD head coach Laura Schuler.
Not only has Kraemer gained spotlight in the WCHA for her performance on the ice.
The Waterloo, Ontario native has an opportunity to don the red and white for Canada’s National Team for the second time in her hockey career.
Kraemer will skate in the final two games of their Rivalry Series.
“I think I am especially excited to play in front of a Canadian crowd. I haven’t done that yet, been able to play in like a sold out crowd like that, that’s cheering for our team yet, it’s always been away crowds,” said Kraemer.
Kraemer won’t be alone when representing her home country’s colors.
Former All-American Bulldog Jocelyne Larocque will also skate in the Rivalry Series.
“It’s been really fun to bounce back our difference experiences here and the similarities and differences. But she is an awesome person, and it’s been really awesome to watch and learn from her on and off the ice,” said Kraemer.
The current Bulldog is the youngest forward to be named to Team Canada’s roster.
But those who watch Kraemer know that she can play at any level of the game.
“Kraemer first of all can play with any line on any team. She’s big, she’s strong, and especially as you play for the national team and you are playing international hockey, that strength and physicality is a really important part,” said Schuler.
