Scott Sandelin Set to Coach in 1,000th Game for UMD

UMD will host Arizona State on Friday at 7:07 PM.

DULUTH, Minn.- Another important NCHC series, they all are, awaits the 5th ranked UMD men’s hockey team.

As the Bulldogs will welcome in an Arizona State squad, who’s picked up a couple of statement wins over the past couple of weeks.

The Sun Devils have taken down North Dakota and Denver.

But as UMD and Arizona State drops the puck on Friday, Bulldogs head coach Scott Sandelin will achieve a milestone as he’ll coach in his 1,000th game on the bench.

“It’s just more of the players. I think that’s been the thing that keeps you going right. We’ve had a lot of great players here, great people. I can honestly say that we haven’t had a lot of bad people right. That’s what makes it fun, to be around those guys. Yeah, you’re not going to win every year and you’re going to have ups and downs and all that stuff. But, very thankful for the staff,” said Sandelin.

As for the contest itself, revenge is on the minds of the players after Arizona State swept UMD in the playoffs last year.

“Obviously not the best memories of those two games. I’m not really thinking about who we are playing against. Puck is always the same and we have to stop it no matter what,” said goaltender Adam Gajan.

UMD is 3-4-1 all-time against Arizona State. They’ll try to even things up Friday at 7:07 PM.
