Coffee Conversation: MNSAVES highlights expanded benefits of 529 College Savings Plans

DULUTH, Minn. — Emmanuel Torres, a College Savings Consultant with the MNSAVES 529 College Savings Plan, joined FOX 21 live in studio to share information about how families can plan ahead for a child’s education.

MNSAVES works to educate parents and caregivers on the benefits of investing early in a 529 savings account, helping set children up for future educational success.

Recent federal legislation has expanded how those funds can be used. Families can now apply 529 savings toward certain primary and secondary education expenses, in addition to post-high school education costs.

Torres also highlighted that 529 contributions can make a meaningful holiday gift, particularly for younger children who may quickly outgrow toys and games.
