UMD Men’s Hoops Eyes Complete Game Versus Minot State

UMD is currently 2nd in the NSIC North division.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s basketball team is coming off a heartbreaker on Saturday, where they fell to Jamestown by just one point.

With the loss, the Bulldogs still remain near the top of the NSIC North standings as they’re second.

This upcoming week, they’ll meet with two teams who are trying to leapfrog the Bulldogs. That would be the 3rd place Minot State Beavers and the 5th place UMary Mauraders, who also are 3-2 in conference play.

UMD head coach Justin Wieck says based off of Saturday’s result, they know they have to play all 40 minutes.

“We’re focused on the end of games and trying to finish but also all the little stuff that goes into in those first 39 minutes. So much room for us to grow, we’ve been saying it for awhile now. But, I think we’re better offensively than what we’re playing. We just have to keep going to work at it,” said Wieck.

“We’re not playing how we forsure want to be. But, you’d rather be playing, building up to your best basketball in March. You don’t want to be playing your best in December and then plateau from there. So, this team we’re definitely on the come up,” added guard Nick Katona.

The Bulldogs and Beavers will tip-off before the women at 5:30 PM on Thursday.
