UMD Women’s Basketball to Put Winning Streak to Test Against Minot & Mary

The Bulldogs have lost their last two meetings to the Beavers and their last five matchups to the Marauders.

DULUTH, Minn.- Since Thanksgiving, the UMD women’s basketball team has turned things up a notch.

Six consecutive wins with a 5-0 perfect start to conference play.

Later this week, that streak will be put to the test as UMD will welcome in Minot State on Thursday and UMary on Saturday.

The Bulldogs have lost their last two meetings to the Beavers and their last five matchups to the Marauders.

Head Coach Mandy Pearson says it will come down to their defense if they want to continue their winning ways.

“They have a little bit of a smaller lineup so our post players are going to have to, we’re going to be switching a lot of things and they’re going to have to defend on the perimeter. Which brings some challenges but I think they’re up for it so with both teams we really need to contain the drivers,” said Pearson.

“As much as we have to match up to them, they also have to match up to us. So just being aware of their strengths but also like our weaknesses and trying to improve everyday in practice,” added guard Ashley Fritz.

UMD will vie for their 18th win over the Beavers since the 2013 season Thursday, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.
