Duluth Parks and Recreation to receive $1.3 million grant to enhance Duluth Traverse

Duluth Traverse

DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Traverse will be seeing enhancements after receiving a $1.3 million grant.

Duluth Parks and Recreation has been approved for the funds through the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission.

The traverse has over 90 total miles of multi-use trail spanning across Duluth. It’s one of the 11 trails across the state to receive funds.

The grant will fund a project that aims to redevelop the Lester Park trailhead and develop a new bike skills area.

The project will also increase access and better connect visitors with the trail system.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
