Minnesota Monsters Talk Move to AMSOIL Arena & Addition of Kicking

Minnesota will have six total home games at AMSOIL Arena.

DULUTH, Minn.- The Minnesota Monsters have a new league, new team name, new head coach, and now a new home field.

On Thursday, the team announced that they will play their home games at AMSOIL Arena, beginning with the 2026 season.

Previously the Monsters played at DECC Arena, which is right next door to AMSOIL.

Monsters CEO Steve Walters says the move was made due to wanting to give fans and the players a better experience.

It also is a better venue to help adjust to some rule changes, which Walters provided all the details.

“This is going to feel more like a traditional football, being able to have those trench wars. We have big heavy lineman. The last two seasons, we really haven’t had that. It’s going to feel more like traditional football but still at that fast A-D-H-D version of football. It’s only 25 seconds to get up and go again. We have kicking in the league, again that’s going to be also more in line with traditional football,” said Walters.

As Walters mentioned, kicking is now something the team will have to adjust to, which is a position they have already addressed.

“Aedan Johnson. He’s a veteran kicker. He played for Corpus Christi last year and he also played for Salina Liberty. Last year, he went toe to toe with the team that we’ll be playing in the first week. He had five deuces in one game, so he’s bringing a lot of experience to our team this year,” said head coach Daron Clark.

The Monsters first regular season game will be April 11th at the Albany Firebirds.

Then in week 7 on May 22nd, they’ll play in their new home for their opener against the Nashville Kats.

Minnesota will have six total home games at AMSOIL Arena.
