Superior stabbing victim says she broke up with suspect two weeks prior to attack

Victim says she was stabbed at least 12 times on her neck, face and head

SUPERIOR, Wis. – A Superior woman, who is healing from a domestic-related stabbing that left lacerations all over her face, neck and head, spoke out to FOX 21 Thursday as the suspect – her former boyfriend — sat in jail on preliminary charges of attempted homicide and substantial battery.

‘I honestly believe that his intent was to kill me, and that if one of my neighbors didn’t come outside, he would have just kept going,” said Amanda Leikvoll, the victim in Wednesday’s stabbing.

The suspect is Dave Bolden, 41, of Superior.  Leikvoll said she was struck at least 12 times Wednesday afternoon in the hallway of her apartment building in the 2800 block of Ogden Avenue.

“As soon as I opened the door to let him in, he pushed the door open, choked me, started hitting me in the head, and then that’s when he just started slashing my face,” Leikvoll explained. “I got down on my hands and knees, and I started screaming for help, saying he was trying to kill me. And then I asked him to stop, because I’m a single mom, and I asked him to think about my son. And I said, please don’t do this. My son needs me. I can’t die. I’m the only person that he has.”

Doctors told Leikvoll that she could likely go home Friday, but she’ll have a year-long recovery process ahead of her.

Leikvoll said she is thankful for the support from family, friends and the surgeons at Essentia.

“Physically, I’m okay. Mentally, I’m still a little shook up, but you know, doing the best that I can, I guess I got a good support system, and the nurses here at Essential have been fantastic,” Leikvoll said.

Douglas County District Attorney Mark Fruehauf said he will decide on charges on Friday.
