SUPERIOR, Wis. – Dave Bolden is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $1,000,000 cash bond after being accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.

Superior Police say Bolden stabbed his ex-girlfriend at least seven times with box cuter on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at a residence on the 2800 block of Ogden Avenue in Superior.

Court records show in 2007 Bolden was found guilty due to a “No Contest” plea of “Intentionally Mistreat Animals”  he was fined $602.  The investigation started when a dog was discovered injured or sick and needed treatment.  The dog eventually had to be euthanized due to injuries.   The investigation was not able to clearly determine what caused the injuries leading to the dog’s death.

But in the investigation into the dog’s history, Bolden was accused of repeatedly abusing of the dog.

Charging documents say Bolden admitted to a City of Superior Detective that he abused the dog.  The documents said, “[Bolden] stated that he had kicked the dog at least twice in the ribs causing the animal to ‘scoot’ across the floor.  [Bolden] also admitted that he has thrown the animal.”  The documents continued to say Bolden wrote in a statement that he, “would pick the dog up and throw it.”

The charging documents said a mail carrier saw a male, “pick the dog up by the collar and throw it on the porch.  The dog was thrown into the stucco wall by the door.”  It was not confirmed if that male was in fact Bolden, but it happened at Bolden’s residence.

Also, a neighbor reported “almost nightly” hearing a loud thud and then hearing a dog crying for Bolden’s residence.

The charging documents did not say what breed was the dog.
