‘Hairball’ rocks their way into Kuwait to perform for service members

DULUTH, Minn.– If you’ve ever been to a Hairball show, you’ve seen their tributes to veterans, and active-duty service members and recently, they gave the ultimate tribute, overseas.

The rock cover band, just returned from a trip to Kuwait, that they will never forget.

During their visit, Hairball members got to spend time with different military departments, through educational tours, getting to know the K-9s, and members of the bomb squad.

The lead guitarist told FOX 21, the entire experience was thrilling, and impressive.

“It’s humbling, and it’s a thing that gives your perspective, because we’ve had so many veterans on the stage that all have incredible stories of service. We’ve had family members representing service members that we’ve lost, that they may be up there, representing for their brother or their grandfather. And the stories are incredible,” said Michael “Happy” Schneider, lead guitarist for Hairball.

And to wrap up the visit they put on a show for the service members.

Schneider said, since many of the service members are from Duluth, it was special to give them a reminder of home right around the holidays.

“Part of the reason that I believe we were asked is because there was a lot of a lot of service members deployed from Duluth who were familiar with this, of course. And when the lights kind of went down before the intro tape even started, you know, they started chanting Hairball,” said Happy.

Happy said, they are talking about returning to Kuwait for an ‘encore’ performance in the future.

But until then, they’re excited to continue sharing photos, and videos of their great adventure
