Duluth Coffee Company moving Superior Street cafe

DULUTH, Minn. — After over a decade of giving the Twin Ports their “morning joe”, Duluth Coffee Company is moving their beloved cafe. All the way next door.

“I’m super proud of this space. I’m not even nostalgic about the old one going away, because that was just a reflection of myself, and this is a reflection of everyone I work with,” said the company’s owner Eric Faust, who’s seen his company blossom since first stepping foot into its current location 13 years ago.

The new space will allow the coffee company to continue their master plan; to create a full coffee community right in the heart of downtown Duluth.

“This is a multi-stage plan to expand the coffee shop, and so what we’ve done is we’ve rebuilt the coffee shop next door and are ready to reopen, and we’ll have this (new) space open for the next 3-4 months as we go into the original coffee shop, completely gut it, and rebuild it into an expanded seating area,” said Faust. “The wall between the two spaces will come down sometime this spring, prior to this next summer (of 2026), and we’ll have a coffee shop that’s twice as big as the original one.”

With that new space comes some new additions as well, something Duluthians have been hungry for.

“We’ve added more kitchen capacity to allow us to expand our food menu in the coffee shop (and) we’ve also built out a more beautiful coffee bar than the original one,” said Faust.

“The original one was beautiful, and it lasted us for 13 years, and we’re sad to finally retire it, but this (new) coffee bar shows the evolution of us as coffee people and crafts people.”

While the old shop will always hold some special memories for the company, the turn to the next chapter is in no way a sad one.

“It was the beginning of our story, and this is just the next step in our story, and we are certainly not done,” said Faust.

“I’m so proud that that coffee shop has lasted for 13 years, but I’m not nostalgic about it going away.”

The new cafe is set to open Jan. 2, with the larger renovations set to wrap up around the summer of 2026.
