Superior man has car stolen after leaving it running unattended

Court Crime GenericSUPERIOR, Wis. & DULUTH, Min. – Duluth Police say they arrested a man for stealing a car in Superior, Wisconsin.

A Probable Cause Statement said the vehicle’s owner had left the car running with the keys in the ignition.

The theft happened on December 27, 2025.

The charging documents say a Duluth Police cruiser’s automated license plate reader saw the stolen car’s license plate and alerted the officer.  The officer then saw Jacob Jonathan-Hayes Davis park the Subaru Crosstrek.

The officer said they approached Davis when he got out of the car.  Davis allegedly said he had recently purchased the vehicle for “$10,000”.  The officer says Davis did not have any proof of sale on him.

He is facing charges of receiving stolen property and driving without a license.

Davis is scheduled to be back in court on January 27, 2026.
