#5 UMD Men’s Hockey to Meet Lindenwood for First Time in Program History

Lindenwood is in their fourth year as a division one program.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team is preparing to face a first-time opponent this week in Lindenwood.

The Lions, who are in their fourth year as a Division one program, picked up some key wins this season. That included a 4 to 3 victory over Denver back in October. Overall, they are 9-9.

Head Coach Scott Sandelin says it’s always important to respect your opponent, including new division one teams.

“A good way to start against a team that is going to make it difficult. So, how are we going to fight through that? How are we going to play through that stuff? If we want to be cute and fancy, we might be chasing the game. If we want to play simple, hard, and direct and play the way we need to. Then we’ll give ourselves a good chance to have a good weekend,” said Sandelin.

“We have a lot of things like D-zone we need to clean up, a little bit of things. Like neutral zone, maybe maintaining more time in the offensive zone. So I think we’re just going to keep working on it,” added forward Max Plante.

Puck drop between the Lions and Bulldogs is at 7:07 on Friday
