Piedmont Youth Hockey Association preps for annual Jamboree

Piedmont RinkDULUTH, Minn. — The Piedmont Youth Hockey Association is gearing up for its annual outdoor jamboree.

This is their biggest fundraiser of the year.

From a full day of hockey, food, and family fun, this event is a great way to support the community rink while enjoying what it has to offer.

“This is Piedmont’s weekend to come and celebrate, celebrate us, celebrate the kids work, and really, just to see everybody from this whole city come together and do what they love.” said Jason Hirt, Rink Director.

Piedmont Hockey provides gear and covers fees for players to help the community play without the high costs usually associated with the sport.

Additionally, the rink is entirely volunteer-run and relies on fundraisers like this and sponsors to help keep the fun going.

“It’s thanks to them that, you know, we can keep hockey a little bit more accessible for all the kids that want to try it,” said Hirt.

The Jamboree is Saturday and Sunday throughout the day.

Even if you can’t make it to the event this weekend, Hirt says as long as the lights are on and there is ice, everyone is welcome to come skate.

Piedmont Youth Hockey is a 501(c)3 non-profit youth hockey association.

You can find more information on their Facebook or their Duluth Amateur Hockey Association page.
