UMD Women’s Hoops to Put Nine-Game Winning Streak On the Line Against Sioux Falls & Southwest
UMD has won nine of their last 10 games against Sioux Falls.
DULUTH, Minn.- After going 8-0 against NSIC North conference foes, the UMD women’s basketball team will battle two teams from the south division this upcoming weekend.
They are Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State, who are 3rd and 4th respectively in that division.
UMD, who is currently on a nine-game winning streak, will look to return the favor after falling to both squads in their last meetings.
Head Coach Mandy Pearson says her goal is to contain two squads that have no problem scoring.
“Both teams can put a lot of numbers on the board. So we have to be really prepared defensively. They run their offenses very quickly. They push the ball really hard in transition. So, when they get a rebound or if we score, we have to be locked in immediately,” said head coach Mandy Pearson.
“I think this will show what we’re capable of this weekend. It’s actually really exciting to see and play new teams that we haven’t played yet. But, we’re excited to play two good teams,” added guard Claire Bjorge.
UMD has won nine of their last 10 games against Sioux Falls.
They’ll tip things off with the Cougars on Friday at 7:30 PM and then battle the Mustangs on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
