Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 1/9/2026
A Windy and Colder Weekend
This was such a dark week. It was very cloudy, Monday thru Thursday. The sun finally made a breakthrough, today! And, it was warm, too, with a high of 33 (average high is only 20). But, the days are getting longer, and the sun is higher in the sky, so there is reason to be optimistic. We had warm, southwesterly winds today, which goosed us up to that high of 33. The cold front will pass over us tonight, shifting our winds to the NW, and making it much cooler on Saturday, and Sunday. We are looking for highs of 20 and 22 this weekend, with strong NW winds all weekend long. There might be a little bit of snow, along with the cold front, but for most of us, it will be less than an inch. Look for more snow possible on both the north and south shore (as always).
Next week, we warm right back up to the low and mid 30s on Monday and Tuesday. Then, we will have a couple lows from the NW come this way (Alberta Clippers), each bringing us a chance for light snow, as they pass by. It looks like the heavier snow might be a week from today, but, it’s too soon to predict any amounts. I’m hoping for a foot of snow, of course…..which is also pretty unlikely!
A nice, quiet stretch of winter weather in early January isn’t the worst thing to have. It’s just a little…..dull!
Have a great weekend!
