Treasure Chest Games opens shop in Cloquet

Treasure ChestCLOQUET, Minn. — Treasure Chest Games has been open for just over a week, and business has been promising.

They opened with a bang on New Year’s Eve with a tournament with some very lucky gamers getting some valuable cards.

Previously operating as an online storefront, the brick-and-mortar storefront provides space for in-person play and the ability to browse the selection.

“There’s been people coming in every day, playing and excited that there’s a shop and there’s stuff they can do. They don’t have to go all the way to Duluth. They can stay in Cloquet, and that there’s something else to do in Cloquet in general.” said Ryan Peterson, Co-Owner, Treasure Chest Games.

They host a gaming event every evening, including multiple formats of Magic the gathering.

“We’ve had most people come for commander. It’s kind of a staple of magic. People love to come and play commander with their friends. But we also have some more fun stuff going on. We have a draft of unstable, which is like a really insane set that has wacky rules and stuff. So that’s on Saturday, so we’re hoping to draw a lot of people down for that.” said Hollie Peterson, Co-Owner, Treasure Chest Games.

They stock regionally created games as well, including mini mech trading game Tinker and tabletop role playing game Pulvarus.

Coming soon, the trading card game Ward, created in Hibbing, Minnesota.

Treasure Chest Games also has their online shop with free in-store pickup.
