Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland celebrate “Youth of the Year” awards
DULUTH, Minn. — Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland celebrated young local leaders with their annual “Youth of the Year” awards.
During the event, various judges interviewed the award nominees and heard every kid’s story, with the judges then selecting one “Youth of the Year” winner.
The winner would go on to represent the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland in a state-wide version of the competition, with a chance to compete on the national level, but the evening celebrated more than just the sole winner of the award.
“Most of our guest lists are our kids and their families, and we’re celebrating so many more than just our ‘Youth of the Year nominees,'” said Lynn Reins, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland’s CEO.
“Every kid that was a ‘Youth of the Month’ throughout the year also gets to come and be celebrated and recognized for working hard and being a really great club kid.”
The Northland “Youth of the Year” winner this year was Nevaeh C, and she received a $5,000 scholarship that is renewable for up to four years, totaling $20,000.
The National “Youth of the Year” winner receiving up to an additional $50,000 scholarship.
