HERMANTOWN, Minn.- A contest that was dubbed the game of the year certainly lived up to the hype on Tuesday.

Hermantown defeated Hibbing/Chisholm 2-1 in a potential Section 7A title game preview.

Paxson Madill scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 2nd for the Hawks. Micklain Martalock had the other for Hermantown.

Scoring the lone Bluejackets goal was Cole Swanson.

Hermantown (13-1-3) will next play at Shakopee on Saturday.

As for Hibbing/Chisholm (13-2-1), they will host Orono on Saturday.
