Downtown Duluth jewelry store robbed, suspect arrested

DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth police have arrested a man after a downtown jewelry store was robbed Tuesday morning.

The call for help came in around 9:50 a.m. for a report of a robbery at Security Jeweler at 307 W. Superior Street.

After officers talked to the store’s employees, a 24-year-old man was identified as a suspect.

Employees told police the suspect stole a watch and said he had a firearm, according to a news release.

Duluth police K9 Fitz was called in and tracked the suspect to the fourth floor of a nearby parking ramp where he was arrested.

Police said the suspect did not have a firearm in his possession.

He was taken to the St. Louis County Jail for pending charges of Aggravated Robbery and Misdemeanor Obstruction.
